Worrying

Worrying is something many people struggle with, but it can be hard to understand what it really is and why we do it. In simple terms, it’s like telling yourself a story in your head, slowly drifting away from reality. You get stuck in circles of thoughts that don’t help you—in fact, they can make you feel anxious, insecure, or even discouraged. It feels like you are doing something, but in the end, nothing changes, and you only get more lost in your own worries.

We often overthink because we want to feel in control, believing that it will help us find a solution. But instead of moving forward, we often get trapped in the same repeating thoughts without getting any closer to an answer. It seems like action, but in reality, it’s a mental whirlpool that keeps us stuck in doubt and uncertainty.

One important thing that we often forget is self-compassion. Overthinking makes us hard on ourselves—we judge our thoughts and get frustrated because we feel stuck. But we sometimes forget that worrying is human. The first step toward change is becoming aware of your thoughts, recognizing them, and understanding how they affect you.

Self-compassion means being kind to yourself and allowing yourself to feel your emotions without judgment. It’s about supporting yourself instead of criticizing yourself. This not only helps you handle the situation better, but it also allows you to take action in a way that is right for you—whether that means doing something or letting go and shifting your focus.

By supporting yourself emotionally, you can reduce worrying and deal with stressful situations with more calm and strength.

It’s also important to ask yourself if you have control over the situation you are worrying about. Can you change it? Do you have any influence over what happens? If the answer is no, it’s time to let go. There’s no point in being stuck in repetitive thoughts. If you do have influence, think about what you can do. This shifts worrying into action, helping you regain a sense of control.

Although it sounds easier than it is, you’ll find that with awareness and self-compassion, you can reduce worrying a lot. It’s a process, but it will help you find more peace and space in your thoughts.
